Investing in Hapi is commission-free for trading stocks and ETFs. This means we don’t charge you fees for opening or maintaining your account, although other fees may apply.
What is the Clearing House Fee?
Hapi does not charge commissions for trades. However, we work with Apex Clearing, our clearing firm, which is responsible for executing and settling transactions, ensuring that all purchases and sales are completed correctly. For this service, Apex Clearing charges a small fee known as the clearing house fee.
Apex Clearing charges a fee of USD 0.10 for whole shares and USD 0.15 for fractional shares to cover its services. This fee is reflected in the execution price of your buy or sell order.
💡 Note: The clearing house fee remains constant ($0.10 for whole shares or $0.15 for fractions) regardless of the size of your trade.
Additional Regulatory Fees
Some external regulatory fees may apply. These fees are charged by organizations like the SEC or FINRA and are passed on to the customer to cover operational costs.
SEC Regulatory Transaction Fee
FINRA charges this fee to comply with a legal requirement of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in its role of supervising markets.
SEC Fee: $5.10 per $1,000,000 of principal (sells only), rounded up to the nearest penny.
FINRA Trading Activity Fee (TAF)
FINRA charges this fee to recover the costs of supervision and regulation:
TAF: $0.06 per share (equity sells) and $0.002 per contract (options sells). This fee is rounded to the nearest penny and does not exceed $5.95 per trade.
🏛️ Important: SEC and TAF fees are set by law and regulation, and they may change without prior notice. Please review our fee schedule.
American Depositary Receipt Fee (ADR Fee)
Some ADRs (certificates of foreign stocks) are subject to custodial fees. Information about specific ADR fees can be obtained from the custodial bank of the ADR.
Trading ADRs may involve a minimum fee of $0.06 per share or $0.25 per trade.
Summary:
Hapi works with Apex Clearing to execute and settle trades. While we don’t charge commissions for trades, some external fees—such as those from FINRA, the SEC, or related to ADRs—may apply. These fees are transparent and reflected in the final trade price.
