Why can't I buy or sell certain assets on Hapi?
Updated yesterday

At Hapi, we strive to offer you the best investment experience, but in some cases, the options to buy or sell certain assets may be limited. This is due to factors such as market conditions, the type of asset, or applicable regulations. Below, we explain the possible situations you may encounter when investing.

You Can Buy and Sell

When you have the option to buy and sell an asset, these actions will be available based on market conditions:

  • Open Market: You can make instant purchases or sales.

  • Closed Market (stocks only): You can schedule orders to be executed once the market opens.

You Can Only Sell

In some cases, an asset will only be available for sale. This happens, for example, when you can no longer purchase more of the asset in question due to restrictions. Some examples include sanctions, corporate actions, temporary operational blocks, over-the-counter (OTC) stocks, or delisted assets.

  • If you own the asset: You can sell it at any time, depending on market conditions.

  • If you don’t own the asset: You’ll see a message indicating the asset is only available for sale, and the investment button will be disabled.

You Can Neither Buy nor Sell

If you cannot take any action on an asset, it is likely that the asset is no longer available on Hapi or that there are restrictions in your country for trading it (e.g., certain cryptocurrency assets).

💡 Currently, countries like Bolivia, Panama, and Paraguay have restrictions due to regulatory issues, so you will not find cryptocurrency assets available in these countries.

If you have questions about restrictions on an asset, you can contact our support team directly through the app for more information.
