How to buy and sell bonds

At Hapi, bonds are traded using limit orders. This means you set the maximum price you're willing to pay (when buying) or the minimum you're willing to accept (when selling). The order only executes if the market reaches that price.

👉 Bond orders are valid for the day only. If they don't execute before market close (4:00 p.m. ET), they are automatically canceled.

How to buy a bond

  1. Go to the Bonds section from the main menu.

  2. Browse the available bonds and filter by what you're looking for.

  3. Select the bond you're interested in and tap Trade.

  4. Choose Buy, enter your limit price and quantity.

  5. Review the summary and confirm your order.

How to sell a bond

  1. Go to your Portfolio and select the bond you want to sell.

  2. Tap Trade and choose Sell.

  3. Enter your limit price and quantity.

  4. Review the summary and confirm your order.

What is the minimum order size?

Each bond has a minimum purchase amount expressed in face value (par value). You can see it on the order screen under the quantity field. Some bonds are fractional and can be purchased starting from $100.

Example: if the minimum is $1,000, enter 1 in the quantity field to buy one bond. If the minimum is $5,000, enter 5.

What does a limit order mean?

A limit order does not guarantee execution. It only fills if there is a counterparty willing to trade at your price or better. If no match is found before market close, the order is canceled.
